FORMAL WELCOMING CEREMONY
Led by FIRST NIGHT®'S MASKED CELEBRATION DANCERS

Enjoy a special dance by ballet students from Escondido. Not only did these students choreograph their own dance - they designed their own 3-dimensional masks and costumes. These are the masked dancers who won the trophy for most humorous entry at the Grape Day Parade - don't miss them! After the dance, Escondido city officials and First Night® Board members will formally welcome event participants to this special community event.

FAMILY FIREWORKS DISPLAY AT 8:00PM

Experience a wild south-of-the-border-style fireworks display! Time sequenced giant pinwheels on multitiered scaffolding will mesmerize you and brilliant flashes of colored fiery light will take your breath away. This year's early evening fireworks display is sure to be a real treat for the entire family!

1,500 bead necklaces will be tossed into the crowd from the balcony of the Bank of Escondido. The beads will be thrown on a random schedule with some being tossed between 6:45 and 7:30 p.m. and the remainder being tossed beginning at 8:15 p.m.

Two of North County's premiere caricature artists have been hired to sketch the likeness of First Night® participants at no cost to the participants. Have your caricature drawn or relax and watch the artist at work. The first caricature artist will set up in front of the Artisans Gallery (just east of Kalmia on Grand) from 6 to 8PM. The second will set up near the Wishing Well by Escondido & Grand from 7 to 9PM.

WISHING WELL

Toss a coin into one of the beautiful wishing well fountains provided by El Plantio Nursery and make a special wish for the New Year! Patio Playhouse will have "Enchanted Photographers" available to take a Polaroid photo of your group. Photos are $2 each with all funds going to support the youth theatre's programs.
